The essential kit
Pack clothing you can move in, a warm layer, sun protection, a hat, sunglasses with a retainer, sunscreen and a refillable water bottle. Shoes should be clean, secure and non-marking.
Use a soft bag that can be stowed on board. Hard suitcases are awkward on yachts and take up space that should stay usable during the course.
Documents and course readiness
Bring your logbook, previous certificates and ID if your course requires them. Day Skipper, ICC, Yachtmaster preparation and specialist courses may need evidence of prior learning or sea time.
If you are joining a theory-linked practical course, revise before arrival. A practical week is much better when basic navigation concepts are already familiar.
Weather reality
Alicante has a generous sailing climate, but it is still the sea. Bring a light waterproof or windproof layer outside high summer, and pack so you can be comfortable during marina handling, sailing, lunch breaks and evening study.
