Booking and payment

On receipt of the relevant information, the client must complete a Booking Form and pay the required checkout amount to confirm the booking. Online RYA courses are paid in full. Other paid courses, local sailing and voyages are reserved with a 25% non-refundable deposit, with the remaining balance payable before sailing or training starts. Books, food, drinks and other selected extras are paid 100% upfront.

Cancellation policy

The 25% reservation deposit is non-refundable. If the client cancels the booking less than eight weeks in advance of the commencement date of the course or sailing, the deposit and any balance of payment made shall be forfeited. CBS will attempt to reschedule the booking based on availability, at its discretion.

Cancellations by CBS

Should CBS cancel, clients are notified promptly and are normally offered alternative dates. A refund for bad weather applies only when the forecast or observed conditions reach Beaufort force 7 or above. CBS will not be liable for third-party costs relating to travel, accommodation or incidental expenses.

Liability and safety

Clients and their families / guests take part in the course at their own risk. CBS accepts no liability for personal accident or for loss of or damage to personal property. Clients must maintain adequate insurance coverage.

The Instructor’s decision is final in respect of the course content, sailing plan and the use of safety equipment.

Conduct requirements

Prohibited items include non-prescribed drugs, firearms, and illegal substances. Alcohol is prohibited during sailing hours, and any person found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be asked to remain ashore until such time as they are fit to re-join the course. No refund shall be made in this respect.

Minors

Children under 16 require parental accompaniment. Students aged 16 to 18 require a written parental consent letter.

Fitness and health

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that he / she is fit and capable of taking part in a sailing course.
