RYA COURSE FAQ
Questions students usually ask first.
Do I need sailing experience before an RYA course?
No. Start Yachting and Competent Crew are designed for beginners. Skipper-level courses list the practical experience expected before you join.
Is Costa Blanca Sailing an official RYA school?
Yes. Costa Blanca Sailing is an RYA Recognised Training Centre, with certificate courses run to RYA standards from Marina Alicante.
Where do courses start?
Courses start from Marina Alicante, with practical sailing on the Costa Blanca waters around Alicante and Tabarca when conditions allow.
Do RYA courses run all year round?
Yes. The sailing school operates all year round across the four seasons. Practical course plans adapt to the forecast, daylight, sea state and the RYA training objectives for that course.
How do I reserve a course?
Online RYA courses are paid in full at checkout. Other priced courses can be reserved online with the approved 25% non-refundable deposit where checkout is enabled. Books are paid in full upfront.
What if there is no open date for my course?
Send an enquiry with your preferred dates. The website never invents availability: only explicit open course dates are shown as bookable.
What happens if the weather is not suitable?
The instructor makes the safety decision. If conditions are not suitable for the planned training, the plan is adjusted or alternative dates are discussed.
Can training be tailored beyond the standard RYA courses?
Yes. Alongside the core RYA pathway, focused tuition can cover harbour manoeuvres, own-boat training, ICC assessment or Yachtmaster preparation.
