What Day Skipper is for
The RYA describes Day Skipper as the transition from crew to skipper. In practice, that means planning, briefing, navigating, handling the yacht and adapting when conditions change.
You are not expected to be perfect. You are expected to be ready to practise command decisions under instructor supervision.
Why train in Alicante
Alicante keeps the useful training close. The berth gives immediate marina-handling practice, the coast gives pilotage, and the open water outside the harbour gives proper sailing decisions.
For English-speaking students flying into Spain, the base is also simple: airport access, a central marina and a long sailing season.
How to arrive prepared
Review chartwork, buoyage, collision regulations, pilotage, weather, basic passage planning and boat systems before the course. Bring your logbook and any certificates.
