Level 2 Powerboat Handling

This two day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planning speed, and collision regulations. On successful completion of the course your Certificate will be endorsed for coastal waters.

  • Assumed knowledge: None.
  • Duration: 2 days.
  • Minimum age: 12. Candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate.
  • Course content: Launching and recovery, boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard.
  • Ability after the course: Self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions, aware of own limitations and those of craft.
  • Cost: 395 euros per person.
  • Price includes the RYA Powerboat Scheme logbook and Start Powerboating handbook, and all safety equipment including buoyancy aids.
  • Maximum student/Instructor ratio 3:1.
  • Availability: Year round.

Please note that we do not provide accommodation or meals during Powerboat courses. Candidates should bring appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, and food / drink as required. A lunch break ashore will be scheduled in the marina.
