Most call outs to stranded boats are the result of poor engine maintenance, and could easily have been prevented. This one day course will provide you with all the knowledge required in order to keep your auxiliary engine in good order, carry out regular checks and servicing and understand the basic systems involved in order to prevent a breakdown at sea.
The course covers the basic operation of a marine diesel engine, the systems and parts of the engine, fault finding and rectification of common problems, bleeding the fuel system and replacing the impeller, routine maintenance and lay-up procedures. At the end of the course you will be able to go sailing confident in the knowledge that your engine is in good working order and that you can deal with the most common faults.
