This one day provides a practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats. It focuses on providing the student with a working knowledge of boat preparation and handling, crew considerations and safety.
Level 1 Start Powerboating
- Assumed knowledge: None.
- Duration: 1 day.
- Minimum age: 8. Candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate.
- Course content: Launching and recovery, preparation of boat and crew, boat handling, picking up and securing to a mooring buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, being towed.
- Ability after the course: Able to assist as crew and driving a powerboat under supervision.
- Cost: 250 euros per person.
- Price includes the RYA Powerboat Scheme logbook and Start Powerboating handbook, and all safety equipment including buoyancy aids.
- Availability: Year round.
Please note that we do not provide accommodation or meals during Powerboat courses. Candidates should bring appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, and food / drink as required. A lunch break ashore will be scheduled in the marina.
